Hot and Dry Desert
  • Soil in the hot and dry desert is very course textured
  • Shallow and rocky or gravely
  • Good drainage, beacause of this, there is no surface water.
  • The soil here has a very high pH because of the alkalinity.
  • Sand

Cold Desert
  • The soil in the cold desert is heavy.
  • Also very silty and salty.
  • Drainage is good.
  • Most of the salt has been leached out.
  • Contains alluvial fans where soil is relativly pourous
  • Silt
